Every week, your child will have fun getting to earn points doing things like missions, scripture memory, and bringing their friends along.  On a typical week, the kids will be joining in worship, learning about and connecting with missions, hearing a Bible story told in ways that help them to understand more clearly, and having that same Bible story taught in a way that relates back to Christ. A child that moves all the way through the program will:

• Work their way through the Bible chronologically twice
• Relate every story in the Bible back to Christ
• Memorize over 250 Bible verses
• Learn about local and international missions
• Do missions in our community
• Learn how to reach people for Christ and actually do it!

Kidglow is centered around Matthew 5:16:
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
We want our kids to GLOW with Christ’s love! We want them to shine the light of Christ all over Mexico, the nation, and the world!

Here are 7 of the 10 article titles on the cover of a recent Seventeen magazine.  Here the message is clear also: happiness, joy, and beauty is only skin deep.  Beauty has been and is being defined by what you look like and what you wear.  Companies spend billions of dollars on advertising to children and teenagers to send them the message that you are incomplete without this product or that product. And, whether you believe it or not, it is a huge problem.  Girls and boys are taught at a very young age what looks good and what is needed to look cool.  Some are taught by their parents, some are taught by friends, and some are taught this lesson by what they see in the media.

Some will argue it is just clothes and shoes, but it is not!  Talk to children and teenagers about why they “have” to wear a certain brand and you will find very quickly that it is not just clothes and shoes, it is who they are.

And we as parents want our kids to be happy.  We want them to be liked.  We don’t want them to be made fun of.  Unfortunately our four year old already knows that she does not like to be laughed at, this has started at four.  The whole idea of acceptance and conformity starts with toddlers, not with teenagers.  What do we do?  We need to decide what message we want them to hear, and share that message over and over again.  The message of:

1. We are created by God in His image.

2. That God has a plan for us (Eph.2:9), and that plan is a great.

3. Joy can be found in things that are not temporary.

4. Our value is found in who we are in Christ, not in what we have and do.

The problem is that these messages are completely countercultural.  Our children are not going to see a TV show, watch a movie, or read an article about these things.  These messages are things we are going to have to share with them, and not just once.  These are conversations that will have to take place early and often.  These are also ideas that have to be modeled.  If we want our children to have a biblical view of who they are in Christ, then we must have a biblical view of ourselves in Christ.

I am not suggesting that you have a structured time everyday where you sit down and lecture your children about who they are in Christ.  What I am suggesting is more of a Deuteronomy 6 approach.

 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Deuteronomy 6:5-7

As you walk through life with your children, as you go to Wal-Mart, as you set the table for supper, as you play catch, these are the times to talk about who Christ is, and what He means to you.  But they must be authentic conversations.  We must be living what we are talking about.
